On Friday 10th January, Classes 3 and 4 went to visit Manchester Musuem. The children have just started a topic on Ancient Egypt and went to do a workshop about the Egyptians at the museum.
In the morning the children were able to explore the museum's galleries and exhibts, learning all about nature and the planet. They saw living frogs, snakes and reptiles. There was a very impressive T-Rex skeleton named Stan! The children were impressed by the vast collect of stuffed animals the musuem had.
After lunch the children took part in the Ancient Egyptian workshop where they had to use teamwork to build a pyramid in the fastest time (we made it onto the leader board!) and find out about different artefacts the museum had in its collection.
The most exciting part of the afternoon was when we got to meet Azru the mummy! She was a real life mummy who used to be a chantress in her life. The children used Ipads to take photos of different objects that Azru could have been buried with to take with her to the afterlife.
It was a fantastic day and everybody (both adults and children) learnt so much.
